Equality & Diversity award
We are delighted that Friars has gained the Enhanced Healthy School’s Award and certificate and the Equality and Diversity Award. We gained these awards for our commitment to health, fitness and well-being. Our work on how everyone should be treated as an equal continues at Friars. We have our fantastic Year 6 play leaders; our post boxes for worries in Key Stage 1 and 2; equality and diversity assemblies; a new child-friendly anti-bullying policy; surveys across the school on behaviour and a programme of work on health and fitness.
The ceremony was attended by twelve other schools, the local authority Director of Learning and the Mayor! Paige, Suhailah, Billy and Shane from Year 6 gave a wonderful presentation at the ceremony on ‘Show Racism the Red Card’. They did a brilliant job of demonstrating the learning that had taken place at Friars across the year!
Last year’s Equality and Diversity programme culminated in a wonderful picnic with art activities. There was a brilliant community feel and there were absolutely no barriers to anyone taking part fully. Thank you to everyone who attended! We would really like to repeat this and make it part of the Friars’ calendar.
We are really proud of what we have achieved so far. We want to keep the momentum and ensure that everyone is treated fairly and that bullying is not accepted by anyone in our community.
