Year 5 Healthy Relationships Workshop

Year 5 were quite fortunate to have 2 visitors from Break the Cycle come in and talk to them about healthy relationships and how to maintain them. We carried out a variety of different tasks where we had to work within small groups. Initially, we had to decide and discuss which people were close to us in our lives and then classify them by their importance e.g. mum, dad, distant cousins, policemen etc. This was followed with healthy and unhealthy statements which generated a lot of discussion within the year group e.g. peer pressure. The children had to decide whether each statement was healthy, unhealthy or both and be able to justify their reasons. We also looked at different scenarios children might find themselves in and the best course of action to take in these situations.
