Reception enjoy Bikeability

Children in Reception have all taken part in bikeability this week. We started the sessions discussing safety with regards to clothing, shoes and helmets. After having our helmets correctly fitted the children were off. Each child was at a different starting point. Some were already confident riders so they were encouraged to use their brakes and control the bikes through and around cones. Others needed a little more reassurance and practised starting with one foot on the peddle and pushing off, from this the children grew in confidence and joined the able riders. Other children began on a balance bike and were encouraged to glide along lifting their feet once stable. All in all it was a fantastic week and out of the 60 children taking part 32 finished as able riders.
