School Council Visit to the Pier with Age Concern UK and Arriva
Friars School Council had an amazing opportunity this week as they ventured out of school with Arriva and residents linked to the charity ‘Age Concern UK’ for a trip on a bus to Southend Pier. There we were greeted by the Mayor and Mayoress of Southend and taken on a tour of the Pier Museum. After that we got onto the Pier train and took a trip to the end of the pier, where we took in beautiful views as we ate a delicious buffet lunch. After lunch, we got to travel back on the train and hopped back on the bus back to school. It was a wonderful community opportunity which benefitted both the older people and the children. They enjoyed listening to each other’s stories and the children loved learning more about experiences of Southend and the pier. Many comments were made by all that they came into contact with about the exemplar behaviour displayed by the children and they were a total credit to the school. Thank you to Arriva and Age Concern for allowing us to be part of this wonderful project.
Here are some pictures of their day.
