IoW 2023 Day 1

So… we set off at 6:45am this morning to much excitement for the day ahead. It took a little time to make it onto the M25 but we were soon at the service station for our break. We reached the ferry at Portsmouth just before 11:00am and we were on our way by 11:30am.

We loved the ferry. The weather was kind so we stayed out on the deck and most of us enjoyed our packed lunches there. The sea was calm… as were the children. It wasn’t long until we were back on the coach and making our way to Sandown and the Sands Hotel, arriving before 12:45pm.

We met Shauna the hotel owner and she introduced us to the rules of the house and then we went off to settle into our bedrooms. The hotel is really lovely and our rooms are too.

Once we were all sorted, we went for a nice stroll along the promenade where some children and adults chose to have ice creams. We then set up base out the front of the hotel and played games, football, splashed in the sea and chatted.

Dinner is at 6:00pm and then we’ll enjoy the evening together in the garden of the hotel and on the beach once more.
