Welcome to our Year 2

In Year 2 the children continue to adapt to more formal learning and lessons. The year begins with the children learning about traditional tales such as the Gingerbread Man, and we think about our lives and our local area – both past and present.

Across Year 2, we learn about a number of very important figures in history such as Florence Nightingale, George Stephenson, Ernest Shackleton and Robert Falcon Scott. Art sees us study portraits, landscapes and cityscapes as well as printing and sculpture. With Design and Technology, we design and make cars (model ones that is), puppets and healthy snacks!

In the summer term, we visit Call of the Wild. This educational visit supports not only our science learning on animals but also our geography work.

As the year draws on, the children develop greater levels of independence within their work as they prepare for their move to Key Stage 2.
